Bluesfest response to council 10aug09
Bluesfest is back on the agenda at council on the 10th September with a recommendation to proceed.
http://www.byron.nsw.gov.au/meetings/meeting/244 - see the Agenda at the top, and all the detail items, especially the (2009-09-10_02b_New_Conditions_of_Consent.pdf) consent conditions, further down.
The response from Bluesfest was not posted due to it being too big for council's website. It is not confidential, so we are posting it here.
Here is the main part of the response, (Response 100809 no traffic.pdf) and here is the traffic response (3.4Mb).
The community is somewhat sceptical of Bluesfest's claims to be able to manage traffic adequately in a way that minimises impact on locals. The Byron Ratepayers association commissioned a response from Holland Traffic Consulting (2MB).
The list of concerns previously emailed to locals has been amended to cover what we can extract from the new consent conditions and bluesfest's response. Its not particularly optimistic - while a few points have been addressed in new consent conditions, most have not been addressed, or specifically declined, and there are till major concerns. Especially - the traffic snarl, and way that Grays Lane and airport traffic will get caught up in it. The amended community submission is here.
